Ordovician Period

A Diorama depicting Ordovician Flora and Fauna
The Ordovician Period lasted from 488 mya-444 mya, beginning at the Cambrian-Ordovician extinction events and ending at the Ordovician-Silurian extinction events. The start of this period saw very hot climates due to CO2 build-p which produced the greenhouse effect with sea levels of 45 degrees Celsius, but over time, the climate grew cooler. Life grew extremely rapidly and flourished in the Ordovician until the extinction events which may have been caused by an ice age that occurred at the end of the Ordovician period as the end of this period was one of the coldest times the last 600 million years.

Nautiloids such as this one were some of the largest predetors
