Devonian Period

The Devonian Period lasted from 416 mya- 359 mya. During the Devonian Period there were probably no glaciers because of its warm climate as well as a dearth of CO2 as the burial of the newely created forests were capturing the carbon from the air. Sea levels in the Devonian were generally high and the jaw-less fish went into decline. Early cartilaginous (Chondrichthyes) and bony fishes (Osteichthyes) also become diverse and played a large role within the Devonian seas. The first abundant genus of shark, Cladoselache, appeared in the oceans during the Devonian Period.
